Yesterday, I discovered that, since January, I have been paying sales tax on shelled nuts, which, along with beans, are my major source of protein.

I am a vegan, and eat no meat, dairy products or eggs. Nuts are my meat and not a snack. Imagine the uproar that would ensue if meat were subject to sales tax!

I have no objection to the taxes on prepared foods and unhealthy snack foods on the list, but shelled nuts should be removed.

Sales tax should be reserved for luxury items and items we wish to discourage people from using, not essentials.
