It’s been over a month since Alan Caron’s Nov. 6 column on poison politics and how to fix it and over one month since our elections. Our nation remains divided and angry with the half of America that voted the other way. I am the founder of Komodia, a nonpartisan nonprofit that uses the power of comedy for comity (showing respect and getting along). Yours is exactly the voice our country needs.

Right now, folks are still caught up in the partisan frenzy. The wounds are still fresh, but we can start the process of healing even now.

To help this healing, Komodia is offering a $2,000 prize in the CrossDrinker Challenge for the best short video of two ideological opposites discussing politics in a funny way, poking fun at each other, but encouraging respect and listening to others while enjoying a coffee, a beer or the drink of your choice! It doesn’t have to be fancy – just use your smartphone. See our website (komodia.lol) for details.

If the #CrossDrinker Challenge is successful, Komodia will launch the College Crossover, where Komodia will give a cash award of $5,000 to the best team of ideologically opposite universities to fund and co-host an event that will be simulcast from both campuses, with support from professional comedians, to discuss intolerance of both the left and the right on college campus. Keep up the great work!
