Three Maine companies were recognized by Gov. Paul LePage on Tuesday with awards of excellence.

The Governor’s Award for Business Excellence, administered by the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, recognizes Maine businesses that demonstrate a high level of commitment to their community, employees and to manufacturing or service excellence, according to a news release announcing the winners.

Honored were Geaghan’s Pub & Craft Brewery of Bangor, Systems Engineering of Portland, and Landry/French Construction Co. of Scarborough.

“All three of these businesses honored today are dedicated to quality workmanship, maintaining a loyal and dedicated workforce, and giving back to the community,” said LePage in the release. “I thank each of them for doing business in our state and for serving as a great example for other Maine businesses.”

Geaghan’s, now in its third generation of family ownership, was recognized for its commitment to the community and for its long, successful operation. The Geaghan family was also just named the Maine Restaurant Association’s 2016 Restaurateurs of the Year.

Systems Engineering, which provides IT strategy and managed services to more than 500 legal, health care, finance and government clients across the country, is employee-owned. It was recognized for engineering excellence and superior customer service.

Landry/French is also an employee-owned company. It provides construction management, design/build, and general contracting services and has been recognized with consecutive AGC Build Maine Awards in 2015 and 2016.

The awards have been presented since 1991.
