WCSH-TV reports that the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department found the mail Wednesday sitting on top of ice that was surrounded by open water. Monroe Fire Chief Kenneth Clements jumped into the water to retrieve the three full bags of mail.
The sheriff’s office has posted photos of the mail retrieval to its Facebook page, and police have arrested two people in connection with the mail theft.
