FARMINGTON — Steven Daley made two baskets in the final 1:46 and Alex Dorion hit two free throws to give Colby a 63-60 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in a men’s college basketball game Saturday

The Beavers (2-7) took a 58-55 lead on two free throws by Riley Robinson with 2:16 to play. Daley, who finished with nine points and six rebounds, then scored twice to give Colby (6-4) a 59-58 lead with 53 seconds left.

UMF took the lead again with 28 seconds to play on a shot by Eric Berry, but Dorion gave Colby the lead back with two free throws. Patrick Stewart added two more free throws with eight seconds left for Colby.

Joe Connelly led Colby with 11 points.

Amir Moss had 21 points and eight rebounds for Farmington, while Berry finished with 13.

MAINE MARITIME ACADEMY 81, CURRY 39: Nick Judge scored 21 points, while Tyler Thayer had 17 points, seven assists and five rebounds as the Mariners (3-7) cruised to a win over the Colonels (1-9) in Castine.

Nicholas DePatsy added 15 points and five rebounds for Maine Maritime, while Dylan Stevens had 11 points off the bench.

POMONA-PITZER 86, HUSSON 64: Daniel Rosenbaum had 24 points, 11 rebounds and five assists as Sagehens (5-5) beat the Eagles (5-4) in Claremont, California.

Raheem Anderson scored 28 points for Husson, while Mitch Worcester added 10 and four rebounds.

Corbin Koch added 19 points for Pomona-Pitzer.

(1) VILLANOVA 80, (10) CREIGHTON 70: Jalen Brunson scored a career-high 27 points, and the Wildcats (14-0, 2-0 Big East) extended their school-record winning streak to 20 games with a over the Bluejays (13-1, 1-1) in Omaha, Nebraska.

The game was only the second time in Big East history that two unbeaten teams met in a conference game, and it lived up to the hype until the Wildcats pulled away in the final minutes.

Kris Jenkins added 21 points and Josh Hart had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the defending national champions.

VIRGINIA TECH 89, (5) DUKE 75: Justin Bibbs scored 18 points to lead the Hokies (12-1, 1-0 ACC) to the upset over the Blue Devils (12-2, 0-1) in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Bibbs broke out of a season-long slump, hitting 6 of 9 from the field, including a season-high four 3-pointers for the Hokies, who won their eighth straight game.

(6) LOUISVILLE 77, (16) INDIANA 62: Donovan Mitchell scored a career-high 25 points and Deng Adel had 17 as the Cardinals (12-2) pulled away from the Hoosiers (10-4) in Indianapolis.

The Cardinals closed out their non-conference schedule with three wins over top-20 teams.

OG Anunoby finished with 14 points and James Blackmon Jr. added 10 as the Hoosiers lost for the second time in four days.

Louisville broke open a close game with a 15-4 run late in the first half and led 39-27 at halftime.

GEORGIA TECH 75, (9) NORTH CAROLINA 63: Josh Okogie scored 26 points, Ben Lammers had 11 points and 11 rebounds, and the Yellow Jackets (9-4, 1-0 ACC) pulled off a major upset with a victory over the Tar Heels (12-3, 0-1) in Atlanta.

Justin Jackson finished with 16 points and Nate Britt scored 13 for the Tar Heels, who committed a season-high 20 turnovers. North Carolina (12-3, 0-1) never led after Okogie hit two free throws with 11:59 remaining.

(17) XAVIER 81, GEORGETOWN 76: Edmond Sumner scored a career-high 28 points on his birthday and J. P. Macura added 23 as the Musketeers (12-2, 2-0 Big East) beat the Hoyas (8-6, 0-2) in Washington.

The Musketeers (12-2, 2-0 Big East) trailed by six points early in the second half, but slowly chipped away at the deficit. Macura’s 3-pointer put Xavier up for good at 62-59 with 8:23 remaining and his two free throws capped a 13-5 run to give the Musketeers their largest lead, 72-64 with 3:58 remaining.

L.J. Peak scored 21 points for the Hoyas (8-6, 0-2). Rodney Pryor had 20 including 10 straight for Georgetown after Macura’s free throws. Trailing 77-74, Pryor missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer with 24 seconds remaining.

(20) FLORIDA STATE 60, (12) VIRGINIA 58: Dwayne Bacon scored 26 of his 29 points after halftime and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 4 seconds left, lifting the Seminoles (14-1, 2-0 ACC) past the Cavaliers (11-2, 1-1) in Charlottesville, Viriginia.

Bacon scored the last seven points during a 9-0 run for the Seminoles that turned a 51-49 deficit into a 56-51 lead, and then answered quickly after Kyle Guy’s 3-pointer had given Virginia a 58-57 lead with 8.8 seconds to play.

(24) NOTRE DAME 78, PITTSBURGH 77: Steve Vasturia knocked down a 3-pointer from the wing with 2.5 seconds left in overtime to rally the Irish (12-2, 1-0 ACC) past Panthers (11-3, 0-1) in Pittsburgh.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

(14) OHIO STATE 92, INDIANA 82: Kelsey Mitchell scored 31 points and Stephanie Mavunga grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds and scored 14 points as the Buckeyes (12-4, 4-0 Big 10) beat the host Hoosiers (11-4).

Mavunga made back-to-back layups, Mitchell had a 4-point play, Mavunga added another layup and the Buckeyes had an 18-4 lead with 4:14 left in the first quarter.
