As a former L.L. Bean employee, I support company Chairman Shawn Gorman’s words and positions.

Linda Bean is a family member and not a part of running the business. She has a particular position on politics with which I disagree. One of the great aspects of living in this country is that we get to express ourselves and our opinions.

Linda Bean’s opinions are her opinions, just as Shannon Coulter of #Grab Your Wallet has her opinions and beliefs. She chose to act on those, just as Linda Bean chose to act on hers.

L.L. Bean has never, as an organization, ventured into the political morass; instead, it has focused on its quality and values and helping us to enjoy the outdoors for over 100 years. I dislike Linda Bean’s position on the president-elect and his behavior, but I will not stop supporting L.L. Bean.

L.L. Bean has invested in the Maine outdoors and supported many nonprofits and outdoor organizations. One hundred years of consistent high-quality performance and action have got to speak louder than one person’s decision to invest in the crazy and sometimes bizarre world of politics.
