WESTBROOK (AP) — Police are warning people to stay off a frozen Westbrook river after two teenage girls fell through the ice.

Police say the girls walked out onto the Presumpscot River near Riverbank Park on Sunday afternoon.

The ice gave way and they fell in. The girls were about three feet from the riverbank.

Police say the shallow water only went up to their ankles. The girls weren’t hurt.

Police officers and firefighters responded to a 911 call.
