GORHAM — Jordan Hall scored on a power play with 7:04 remaining to lift the University of Southern Maine men’s hockey team to a 4-3 win over UMass-Boston on Friday night at USM Arena.

The Huskies improved to 7-10-2 overall, 4-8-1 in the New England Hockey Conference, while the Beacons dipped to 10-7-3, 5-6-2.

Brendan Murphy and Sasha Makarov assisted on the winning goal, which was Jordan’s third of the season and came 12 second before a tripping penalty to UMB’s Brett Mason would have ended.

That gave the Huskies their fourth one-goal lead of the night, and USM goalie Kyle Shapiro made it stand up, finishing with 30 saves.

The teams combined for five goals in the first period, with the Huskies pulling ahead 3-2 on goals by Cody Braga, Cole Klippenstein and Ty Zampitella.

Nolan Redler and Ryan Cusin each scored a power-play goal in the first period for UMass-Boston, and Colin Larkin tied it in the second.
