I was so proud of everyone around the world who marched Jan. 21.

Going forward, I think we need to fight multiple fires at once. We can spend the next four years fighting President Trump’s agenda and not get at the root of the issue of why this was possible. We need campaign finance reform and a repeal of Citizens United, stronger voting support, a true picture of the military budget and an accounting of the brokenness of a two-party system that does not serve this country.

The tree itself is sick and has been poisoned at the roots. Trump is merely a fruit of that tree. I am disheartened that the next big march may be on April 15, demanding that Trump release his tax returns. We need to think and ask much, much bigger.

Together, we can move the needle and push toward a cleaner, more inclusive democracy.
