We all watched as about 12,000 signatures were gathered in opposition to Betsy DeVos’ nomination as secretary of education and presented to Maine Sen. Susan Collins.
I don’t know what motivated those signers, but somebody needs to inform them and our senators that the United States ranks dead last in math and 21st out of 30 in science. And, according to a report published in The Atlantic, Maine schools get a failing grade of 60! By any measure, Maine has failed its children. We should welcome anyone who proposes change, regardless of what that change might be. Anything will be an improvement from where we are!
