He was born on July 29, 1953 to Walter and Pauline Mae (Felker) Coito in Portland. He graduated from Thornton Academy, Class of 1971. He attended Defiance College in Ohio as well as University of Southern Maine.
He worked at General Dynamics for over 40 years before retiring to care for his wife, Sue Kim. He was an avid painter.
Matthew is survived by a son, Derek Coito and his wife Ara of Tagum City, Philippine Islands; a daughter, Sarah Coito of Biddeford; three grandchildren, Leo, Leah and Sebastian; a brother, Michael Coito and his wife Wendy of Saco; a sister, Angela Catalina and her husband Mark of Pepperell, Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St. Biddeford, ME 04005.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Matthew’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 383 US Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
