Regarding Cynthia Dill’s May 14 column (“Comey’s chickens finally came home to roost,” Maine Sunday Telegram, Page D1): One cannot help but be struck by her gloating.
What Ms. Dill fails to take responsibility for, as a supporter of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, is that while James Comey may have made an error in judgment with his televised comments during the election cycle, that, by itself, did not lose the election for Hillary.
What lost the election for mainstream establishment Democrats was their looking at numbers and not listening to what was going on in the street. It was a bad move firing a man who has upset both the Republicans and the Democrats equally.
That, in itself, is the strongest recommendation for keeping him on as head of the FBI.
