AUGUSTA — The top-seeded Thornton Academy boys an girls tennis teams fell to Falmouth in the Class A South finals on Thursday morning at Bates College.

Both clubs finished the regular season with perfect 12-0 record, and took 14-0 records into Thursday’s match.

The difference in each were Falmouth’s doubles, who combined for a 4-0 shutout between the two contests.

The TA boys fell 3-2, with Dariy Vykhodtsev and Jack Xiao earning singles wins. Eva Sachs won her singles match which was TA’s lone point on the girls side as Falmouth clinched the 4-1 victory.

Baseball                                                 

Wells 3, Spruce Mountain 0

Cam Cousins led the way on the mound for Wells, allowing just three hits and earning the shutout win.

Tyler Bridge, Tyler Carpenter and Cousins scored RBI on the day.

Softball                                           

Windham 8, Noble 7

Despite taking a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Noble Knights fell to hosting Windham 8-7 in the Class A South quarterfinals no Thursday.

Danielle Tardiff would hit a two-run double to tie the score in the seventh, and Katelyn Troiano would hit a sacrifice fly to score the game-winner.

Despite the loss, Noble had a solid outing. Marissa Cipola hit two singles, as well as MacKenzie Aleva, Kassidy Lessard and Kelsey Lessard. Raegan Kelly picked up three his on the afternoon, hitting two singles and a double.

Kelly took the circle for Noble, going the distance and picking up seven strikeouts.

Wells 6, Leavitt  0

Anya Chase had a solid outing in the circle for Wells, earning a four-hit, complete game shutout. Karissa Kenyon went 2-for-3 at the plate and collected an RBI and one run.
