KENNEBUNK — “Honoring the past while looking toward the future.” That’s the idea behind this year’s DRIVE.  The Kennebunk-Kennebunkport-Arundel Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Dinner, Meeting, and Awards gala celebration, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14.

This year’s surprise location will be revealed at the Chamber’s After Hours on Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. in downtown Kennebunk.

The annual dinner and meeting is a night of celebration; this year’s event will be a tented affair, decorated with pumpkins, mums and fall harvest festooned with white lights, torches and fire pits.

The night includes a cocktail hour with live music, dinner by Destination Catering, live music, video-recorded award presentations created by Video Creations, plus dessert.

At the dinner, the Chamber also traditionally honors those who have excelled in serving our community. The nonprofit organization recognizes one Business of the Year, a Volunteer of the Year, a NonProfit of the Year, and a Municipal Organization of the Year.

The President’s Award honors an individual or group effort that goes above and beyond to serve our community, and the Joel Stevens Award Community Spirit Award recognizes a deserving person who, over a number of years, have made a significant contribution in advocacy, member support and regional image development.

After a busy summer season, the annual meeting and awards is an opportunity to refocus on the Chamber’s core mission to serve this community, making the Kennebunks and Arundel a better place to work, live and play. Staff, members and volunteers take stock of the work they have done well this year, the challenges they have faced, and look to the future of this nonprofit organization.

Event sponsors include Distinctive Tile & Stoneworks, Kaplan University, New England Cancer Center, Alisson’s Restaurant, Fine Print Booksellers, and Wells Reserve.

Tickets are $75 for the evening, which includes two cocktails and dinner by Destination Catering.
