Thousands of Central Maine Power Co. customers, nearly all on Portland’s Munjoy Hill, lost power late Thursday afternoon when a construction vehicle knocked down a power line at the intersection of Merrill Street and Cumberland AVenue.
The utility company said the outage, which affected traffic signals, was reported at 4:14 p.m. Power was fully restored at 8:47 p.m., according to CMP.
At the peak of the outage, more than 3,400 customers were without power. A few of the affected streets included: Quebec Street, St. Lawrence Street, Walnut Street, Cumberland Avenue, Fore Street, Eastern Prom, Emerson Street, Hancock Street and Kellogg Street.
