OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Arlene Mae Andersen, 79, passed away peacefully last week at her home.

Born May 27, 1938 to Casmiro and Mary (Mendoza) White in Taunton, Massachusetts, Arlene was raised in Taunton and was a sister to many siblings.

She married Halvor “Andy” Andersen in Taunton on May 2, 1959 and accompanied him to various locations dictated by his career in the Navy. Together, they raised four children and finally settled in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

Though the majority of her life was spent raising her children and living the life of a Navy wife, Arlene also spent time as a member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary, worked concessions at the OOB Ballpark, and enjoyed part-time employment at the gift shop at Funtown. A social butterfly, she loved spending time visiting friends and family, cooking, and most especially playing bingo with friends.

Family was the highlight of Arlene’s life. Arlene is predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Halvor “Andy” W. Andersen Sr.  She is survived by her four children: a son Michael Andersen of Saco and his companion Jennifer Small; a daughter Robin Delage and her husband Michael of Scarborough; a daughter, Michele Small and her husband Jeffrey of Old Orchard Beach; and a son, Halvor Andersen of Saco and his companion Pamela Wyman. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Amanda, Steven, Lauralee, and William; and two great-grandsons: Graysen and Graham.

Per the family’s request, there will not be any public services at this time.
