RICHMOND

State police say it was 44-year-old Jerry Kiesow who died when his pickup truck caught fire in Richmond early Saturday morning.

Kiesow formerly lived on Beedle Road in Richmond. His pickup, which was ablaze when discovered at about 3:30 a.m., was parked along Lincoln Street. Richmond police and the state fire marshal’s office responded to the scene to investigate.

According to Richmond Police Chief Scott MacMaster, no foul play is suspected. However because police didn’t know the identity of the person in the truck, how they died and had no witness, they followed protocol and called the state police major crimes unit.

The state medical examiner’s office is still working to determine the cause of death, according to an update issued Sunday by Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
