Sara Burns is president and CEO of Central Maine Power, Maine’s largest electricity utility company, with 900 employees serving more than 600,000 customers. Burns started working at CMP in 1987 as manager of risk management. She was promoted to president in 1998—before the legendary ice storm—and was named CEO in 2005. Burns is chairman of the board of Maine and Company, a business development organization, and she is on the board of directors of both the Mitchell Institute and the Augusta Board of Trade. Burns is a graduate of and now on the Board of Trustees at Colby College.
