SWAMPSCOTT, Mass. — Janice Newcomb (Ramsdell) Tanguay, 86, of Swampscott, Massachusetts, Saco, Maine, and Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away at her home on Jan. 24, 2018.

She was born on Feb. 8, 1931, in Lynn, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Harvey Sr. and Priscilla (Odiorne) Newcomb.

She married Jason Ramsdell in 1955, and in 1971 they divorced, but she did marry again in 1976 to Clement Tanguay, who sadly passed in November 2017. Janice attended Swampscott High School, Colby Jr. College, and Katherine Gibbs College. She was a dietary technician and worked for Deering Pavilion in Portland, Maine, Notre Dame in Biddeford, Maine, as well as Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, Maine.

Some of her hobbies included gardening, bird watching, camping, and walking; in her younger years she enjoyed ballet dancing, Jr. Aid variety shows, field hockey, ice skating and cross country skiing. Janice was also a part of the Helping Hands and Renegade Wives, which are Shriner affiliations.

Janice is survived by her children, Jonathan Phillips Ramsdell of Nashua, New Hampshire and Jill Ramsdell Burns of Nashua, New Hampshire, and step-children: Michael Tanguay of Princeton, Texas, Dennis Tanguay of Tracy, California, Gary Tanguay of Sanford, Maine; Roxanne Levasseur of Sanford, Maine; and Rachel Hambrick of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Harvey P. Newcomb, Jr., as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Clement Raymond Tanguay on Nov. 29, 2017, and her sister Cynthia Carone Smith in 2001.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at The First Church in Swampscott, Massachusetts, 40 Monument Ave., Swampscott, Massachusetts 01945 at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at the Odiorne lot in the Swampscott Cemetery; 400 Essex St, Swampscott, Massachusetts, following the service. A reception will follow the interment at the First Church in Swampscott, Massachusetts.
