SANFORD — Raymond “Ray” A. Dutremble, 83, of Sanford, passed away on Saturday Feb. 3, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

He was born in Biddeford on Nov. 15, 1934, a son of the late Alfred and Yvonne (Lizotte) Dutremble.

Ray graduated from Sanford High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he attended and graduated in 1958 from Hanson’s Barber College in Lewiston. In 1959 he opened Ray’s Barber Shop, serving several generations in the Sanford/Springvale community as a barber and a trusted friend to many.

A lifelong communicant of the St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Ray was a member of the V.F.W., the Springvale Knights of Columbus Council, the American Legion and the Elk’s Lodge.

Ray is predeceased by one daughter, Cathy Henry.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Juliette (Roy) Dutremble of Springvale; a son, Gary Dutremble of Cheyenne, Wyoming; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette Brochu of California.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Family and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Friday the morning of the funeral from 9 until 9:45 a.m. at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. Burial will be in the spring at Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale.

Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
