SANFORD– The Louis B. Goodall Memorial Library recently received a grant from the Dorothy Louise Kyler Foundation in the amount of $5,000. Based in Toledo, Ohio, the foundation awards  grants to help fund children’s collections in libraries across the nation.

The grant will be used to purchase early reader books, chapter books and accompanying audiobooks and DVD’s and encourage early & continued literacy.  An open house in the spring will showcase the new collection.

Head of Children’s Services, Deidre Walsh applied for the grant in September 2017 and the library received notification in December that the Louis B. Goodall Memorial Library was selected.

Walsh said Goodall Library is truly grateful for  the  donation, which will help enhance the children’s collection and give a wide variety of options for the children of Sanford and surrounding towns.

The Louis B. Goodall Memorial Library is located at 952 Main Street in Sanford.  Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday thru Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
