Regarding James D. Herbert’s Maine Voices column in the Maine Sunday Telegram on Feb. 11 (“Just another echo chamber? Higher education’s identity crisis”):

I have to say that this is a refreshing point of reason that those with differing views (the left) should heed.

When the closed ears and unwillingness to listen to and debate opposing viewpoints become the norm, we are in danger of being the people who the left say they are not: undiversified ideologues.

If there is no room for opposing views and debate, we are no better than the dictators we say we don’t agree with.
