CASCO — The Point Sebago Resort has been sold to an Arizona-based real estate trust, according to a press release.

The release from Cove Communities, a relatively new resort and manufactured community group formed in September 2017, says that it has acquired the 775-acre resort on Sebago Lake in Casco.

A Cove Communities spokeswoman said that the existing full-time management team and staff at Point Sebago were offered employment, and a majority have chosen to stay on.

“The Point Sebago team is excited to begin working with the Cove management team to bring the resort to new levels of excellence and family fun,” said Point Sebago General Manager Don Toms. “We look forward to a great relationship that will benefit our guests, homeowners, the Casco community and our valued employees.”

The sale was finalized March 2, according to the spokeswoman, and Cove Communities purchased the resort for an undisclosed sum from the Gould family. Dr. Larry Gould was an initial investor and later the sole owner of Point Sebago. Gould, who also founded Casco’s Camp Sunshine, died in 2015.

Cove Communities’ website says that it aims to “create the finest RV and Manufactured Home Communities in the US and Canada.
