BIDDEFORD — Roger Blais, 61 of Biddeford, Maine, succumbed to ALS after a courageous battle, surrounded by his family, on March 9, 2018.

Employed at Spang Lumber, Wood Structures, and the last 35 years at Pratt & Whitney as a machinist, Roger retired in 2015 due to the advancement of his illness.

As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer hunting with his buddies, bird hunting with his sons, smelt fishing with his dad, watching his sons and grandkids participate in different sporting events and loved spending time outdoors with them. His grandkids were the joy of his life.

Roger also enjoyed attending NASCAR events and camping with his camping family.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Debi Arthur; two sons, Nicholas and his wife Crystal, and Joey and his wife Amy of Biddeford; and three stepsons of Rochester New Hamposhire, BJ, Tyler and Michael Arthur. Also grandchildren Payton, Parker, Madison, Tyler and Cameron Blais, and Brock Arthur. Sisters Carol Riche and husband Robert, Nancy Gagne and husband Rodney, and Aline Larochelle and husband David. His brother-in-law, Joseph Roberge, many nieces and nephews, best friend Daniel Spang and many loving friends.

Roger is predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Georgie, his parents, Raymond and Theresa, sister, Diane Roberge and his niece, Paula Smart. He will be greatly missed.

Visiting Hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday March 14, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. The funeral service will be held at noon Thursday in the Hope Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
