I could not believe my eyes when I read the April 6 front-page headline stating that the Legislature wants to push through $6.6 million to treat uninsured opioid users only! What about expanding the Medicaid program?
I read your wonderful coverage of addicts and their families, and it was quite heartbreaking. But I have to be mean here and say addiction is a self-inflicted condition. Diabetes, cancer and other diseases just manifest themselves. These people need treatment options also.
It is prejudicial and wrong to offer coverage to one set of people and exclude everyone else. Shame on the Legislature and our current governor. I will remember where everyone stands when the next elections come around.
