SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Molly Camelo scored four goals and the No. 6 University of New England women’s lacrosse team upset No. 3 Western New England 17-8 in the opening round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament on Saturday.

Korinne Bohunsky and Jolena Lampron each added three goals for UNE (8-8), which outscored Western New England (7-11) 8-2 in the second half.

The Nor’easters advance to the semifinal round to take on second-seeded Roger Williams on Tuesday.

BOWDOIN 11, WESLEYAN 10: Eliza Denious scored all four of her goals in the second half, including three in a span of 1:19, to help the fourth-seeded Polar Bears (12-4) pull away from the Cardinals (10-6) in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC tournament in Brunswick.

Katie Miller and Hannah Hirschfeld each added two goals for Bowdoin.

The Polar Bears advance to play second-seeded Amherst at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.

AMHERST 17, COLBY 11: The second-seeded Mammoths (15-1) scored five straight times in the final 4:28 to beat the seventh-seeded Mules (9-7) in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC tournament in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Sasha Fritts scored four goals to lead Colby. .

KEENE STATE 18, SOUTHERN MAINE 13: The Owls (8-8, 4-2 LEC) scored six straight goals in the opening 14 minutes and held on to beat the Huskies (9-7, 2-4) in Keene, New Hampshire.

Aliza Jordan had six goals and three assists for the Huskies, while Colleen Fleming added three goals.

REGIS 9, ST. JOSEPH’S 6: Kerri Anselmo scored five goals, and broke a 5-5 tie with 16:48 left, to lead the fourth-seeded Pride (13-4) over the fifth-seeded Monks (11-5) in the quarterfinals of the GNAC tournament in Weston, Massachusetts.

Elyse Caiazzo scored four goals to lead the Monks, and closed it to within 7-6 with 15:17 left, but Regis scored twice over the final 14:14 to put the game away for good.

SOFTBALL

BATES SWEEPS COLBY: Kirsten Pelletier tossed a two-hit shutout to lead the Bobcats (20-13, 5-7 NESCAC) to a 1-0 win in the second game of a doubleheader as they swept the Mules (2-28, 0-12) in Waterville.

Paige Ahlholm homered in the fourth inning.

Bates won 11-3 in the first game, scoring six runs in the seventh inning behind a three-run double by Mary Collette.

ST. JOSEPH’S SPLITS WITH ST. JOSEPH: Maizie Lee had two hits and two RBI as the Monks (14-16, 11-9 GNAC) held on to beat the Blue Jays (20-13, 13-8) 5-4 to earn a doubleheader sweep in Standish.

Melodie Bailey added a double and a triple, drove in a run and scored two for St. Joseph’s.

Amaria Sharon had three hits as the Blue Jays won the first game 5-2.

SOUTHERN MAINE SPLITS WITH MASS.-DARTMOUTH: Alexis Brown tossed a three-hit shutout to lead the Huskies (21-18, 8-6 LEC) to a 3-0 victory in the second game of a doubleheader as they split with the Corsairs (23-13, 7-7) in Gorham. Courtney Davis had two hits, including an RBI double in the third inning. The Corsairs won the first game, 9-1.

BOWDOIN SPLITS WITH WPI: Lauren O’Shea hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning as the Polar Bears (27-9) beat the Engineers (28-10) 2-1 to salvage a split of a doubleheader in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Renee LeClaire drove in four runs and WPI won the first game 8-3.

MAINE SPLITS WITH BINGHAMTON: The Black Bears (19-20, 8-4 America East) scored twice on an error in the seventh to complete a rally and win 9-8 in the second game of a doubleheader against the Bearcats (12-22, 5-8) in Orono.

Binghamton scored six runs in the top of the seventh to take an 8-4 lead, before Maine rallied for five runs in the bottom of the inning. After cutting the lead to 8-7, Maddie Kimble and Hailey Perry scored on an error.

Binghamton won the first game 4-1.
