AUBURN, N.Y. — Charles Levitt tripled home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning and Swarthmore knocked Southern Maine into the losers’ bracket of the NCAA Division III New York Regional with a 9-6 baseball win Saturday night.

USM reliever Jake Dexter hit AJ Liu to open the bottom of the eighth, and Levitt drove Liu home with a triple to right field. Cole Beeker followed with an RBI single and eventually scored on a single by Jared Gillen.

Dexter and Andre Hillier each had two hits for USM (29-14), which will play Cortland or Baldwin Wallace in an elimination game Sunday afternoon. USM needs two wins Sunday and another on Monday to advance to the national championships.

The Huskies led 4-1 in the fourth inning before Swarthmore (36-9) started its comeback with back-to-back home runs by Gillen and Coleson Hebble in the bottom of the fourth off USM starter Gage Feeney.

After falling behind 6-4, USM tied it in the seventh on an RBI single by Hillier and a sacrifice fly by Andrew Olszak.

HARTFORD 12, MAINE 7: Ashton Bardell hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning, and the Hawks (23-29, 16-8 America East) overcame a four-run deficit to defeat the Black Bears (18-32, 12-12) in the final game of the regular season, at Orono.

TJ Ward was 2 for 5 with three RBI, including a solo homer in the second inning to get Hartford on the board.

Brandon Vicens hit a two-run homer and went 2 for 3 with a walk for Maine, which led 6-2 in the third inning. Christopher Bec had four hits in five at-bats, and Hernen Sardinas had two hits and two runs scored.

Maine will host the six-team conference tournament, starting Wednesday. The Black Bears are currently tied for fourth place in the league standings, but tournament seeds won’t be determined until Sunday.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

TCNJ 13, BOWDOIN 7: The College of New Jersey (18-2) led 10-4 at halftime and defeated the Polar Bears (14-5) in the third round of the NCAA Division III tournament in Ewing, New Jersey.

Allie Gorman led the Lions with four goals, while Olivia Cleale, Kathleen Jaeger and Amanda Muller each scored twice.

Kara Finnerty, Hannah Hirschfield and Katie Miller each recorded two goals for Bowdoin.

TCNY opened the game with three straight goals. Miller answered for Bowdoin, but Gorman scored twice as the Lions stretched their lead to 7-1.

MEN’S LACROSSE

NCAA TOURNAMENT: Freshman Tehoka Nanticoke scored three goals, including a critical one as time expired in the first half, and second-seeded Albany beat Denver 15-13 in the quarterfinals at Hempstead, New York.

Sean Eccles, Kyle McClancy, and Jakob Patterson also scored three goals apiece for Albany (16-2), which earned its first-ever trip to the Final Four. The Great Danes will face Yale (15-3), which defeated Loyola of Maryland 8-5.

The other quarterfinals are Sunday in Annapolis, Maryland: Maryland vs. Cornell and Johns Hopkins vs. Duke.
