WATERBORO — The Thornton Academy track and field teams dominated the competition as the Golden Trojans swept the York County Championships held at Massabesic High School on Saturday.

The TA boys racked up 155 points as they outpaced second-place Bonny Eagle by 39 points. Noble finished third, while Kennebunk was fourth and Biddeford fifth.

On the girls side of things, the Trojans won the meet with 138.5 points. Noble came home in second place with 128 points and Marshwood was third with 108. Bonny Eagle finished fourth and Kennebunk was fifth at the annual meet.

 

Boys meet

Travis Snyder led the TA boys on Saturday with four wins. The junior won both the 110-meter hurdles and 300 hurdles as well as taking first in the pole vault and long jump.

Jason Montano was a double winner for TA as he captured first-place finishes in the shot put and discus.

The Trojans would also get wins from Dominic Dadiego in the 200 meters and Lucas Judice in the 1,600 race walk.

Sanford’s Ethan Shain won the 100 meters with Kennebunk’s Alden Shields placing third on Saturday. Shields was also third in the 400 meters and Shain was third in the 200.

Massabesic’s Jarrod Hooper won the 800 with Sanford’s Josh Webber second and TA’s Dawson Desrosiers third.

TA’s Landon Heidrich was second and Kennebunk’s Ethan Eickmann third in the 1,600 meters, while

Eickmann was second and Biddeford’s Sam Mills third in the 3,200.

Biddeford’s Scott Berry was second behind Snyder in the 110 hurdles and Noble’s Noah Safford came home in third place.

The Tigers would also get a second-place finish from Jack DelPrete in the 300 hurdles. Massabesic’s Aiden Galbraith finished third in the event.

Kennebunk’s Andrew Ladd won the high jump with Noble’s Tyler Shettler and Sanford’s Brandon Shaw finishing in second and third.

Biddeford’s Ben Drummey was second and Noble’s John Grenier third behind Snyder in the pole vault. Kennebunk’s Jack Andrews was third in the long jump.

In the triple jump competition, Noble’s Aydin Fitchett finished second and Sanford’s Jordan Giroux grabbed a third-place finish.
TA’s Thomas Palmer was the runner-up to his teammate, Montano, in the shot put. Kennebunk’s Brennan Schatzabel finished in third.

Biddeford’s Cody Saucier was second and Palmer third behind Montano in the discus. Noble’s Eric Griffin took the title in the javelin with Palmer second and Saucier third. Massabesic’s Garrett Gerard came home in third in the 1,600 race walk.
Massabesic’s 3,200 relay team of Parker Jalbert, Matthew Pooler, David Phinney and Hooper came home first on Saturday with TA second and Noble third.

TA also finished second in the 400 relay and Noble was third in both the 400 and 1,600 relays.

Girls meet

Thornton Academy would get two wins from Mia Taranko, who finished in first place in both the long jump and triple jump. Kennebunk’s Caitlin Wolff was second and

TA’s Kieya Dion third in the long jump. Noble’s Natalie Randall was the runner-up and Dion was third in the triple.

TA’s Kylie Bedard won the 300 hurdles with Noble’s Nina Tasker second and Emma Mclaughlin third.

The Trojans would dominate two of the throwing events as Paige Boudreau won the shot put with Noble’s Aspen Dyer and Liz Hamel coming home in second and third.

The Trojans would also win the discus as Jaigan Boudreau finished first and Paige Boudreau finished third.
Wolff won two events for Kennebunk as she finished first in the 200 and the 400. The standout was also the third-place finisher in the 100. Noble’s Gabby Carpenter was third in the 400.

Noble’s Tasker finished first in the 100 hurdles with teammate Sophie Chiasson second and Massabesic’s Syeira New in third.

Tessa Cyr won the high jump for the Knights, while TA’s Allie Gross was second and Biddeford’s Bekah Robertson third. Robertson won the pole vault with Thornton’s Katie-Marie Roy second and Sanford’s Izzy Troop finishing third.

Kennebunk’s Adia Grogan won the javelin with Sanford’s Julia Allen second, and the Rams got another win from Grace West in the 1,600 race walk. Noble’s Sarah Mayrose was second and Sara Colantuoni came home in third place.

The TA girls finished second and Noble was third in the 400 relay. The Knights would also take second in the 3,200 relay and third in the 1,600 relay, while Kennebunk was third in the 3,200 relay.
