NEW HIRES
Mercy Hospital announced that Nina Edwards, MD has joined Portland Surgical Associates as a general surgeon.
Dr. Edwards has practiced in Maine for the past 12 years, including at Central Maine Medical Center and York Hospital. She is a board-certified surgeon who began her career in Michigan before moving to Maine in 2006.

Stroudwater has announced two new hires.
Heidi Larson, MD, is a family physician with more than 20 years of clinical experience.
Dr. Larson previously worked with Massachusetts General Hospital helping to establish a primary care clinic on Nantucket. She also worked as medical director for population health at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Cynthia Wicks joined Stroudwater as a principal.
Wicks brings more than three decades of healthcare industry experience. Wicks founded cWc Healthcare Consultants and held positions as president of Southcoast Physicians’ Network and ACO in Massachusetts.

New England Cancer Specialists has elected a new practice president and lead physicians for three locations:
Dr. Chiara Batteli, a breast cancer specialist, was named new practice president.

 

 

Dr. David Benton will be lead physician for the NECS Brunswick office.

Dr. Can “John” Ilyas will be lead physician for the NECS Kennebunk office.

Edward Yoon, MD, has joined Community Health Options as chief medical officer.
Dr. Yoon previously served as the medical director for Southern Maine Health Center in Saco.
He held additional leadership positions at Martins Point, Capital District Physicians Health Plan and Blue Shield of Northeastern New York.

Sara Dulac has joined Day One as an outpatient clinician working at Casco Bay High School and Thornton Academy.

PROMOTIONS
Day One has announced the promotion of Kate Rhein to program coordinator at Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.
Rhein was previously lead substance use counselor at Long Creek.

Sue Ackerman has been promoted to program manager at both Long Creek Youth Development Center and Mountain View Correctional Facility in Charleston. Ackerman was previously program supervisor at Mountain View.

Stroudwater has announced two promotions
Lindsay Corcoran was promoted to senior consultant.
Corcoran joined Stroudwater in 2013 and focuses on supporting and sustaining healthcare access for rural communities through hospital operational improvement and affiliation strategies.
C. Ryan Sprinkle joined Stroudwater in 2014 and was promoted to senior consultant.
Sprinkle works with healthcare organizations to develop performance improvement and turnaround strategies that position those organizations to achieve long-term financial stability and sustainable growth.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS
The Environmental Health Strategy Center has appointed a new board member.
David Bennell is the food, land, and water manager for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
Bennell served on the board of directors of Brunswick, Maine-based Coastal Enterprises, Inc. (CEI) for nine years, including as a founding member of CEI Notes, a $9 million impact investing fund.
