BIDDEFORD — Annette Emily (Cantara) Addorio, 103, of Biddeford passed away at home on June 22, 2018.

Affectionately known as Nanny by family and friends, she was born in Biddeford on Aug. 13, 1914 to Margaret McCarn and Henry Cantara.  She attended local city schools, graduating from Biddeford High School in 1933.

She worked at Saco Lowell until her marriage to Dennis J. Addorio on Oct. 9, 1939. While raising her family, she worked part-time at Butlers Department Store and Old Orchard Beach Amusement Arcade.  She returned to fulltime employment at West Point Pepperell in 1956, retiring in 1979 after 23 years with the company.

A devout Catholic, she was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Church Choir and Women’s Sodality. While her husband Dennis served with the Knights of Columbus, she was active with the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. In retirement, she was a volunteer tutor at Biddeford High School and enjoyed bowling until age 101.  Annette was also a fan of Biddeford sports and the “Fighting Irish.”

For the last 38 years of her life, she lived with her daughter Loyce and son-in-law Mike in the home that she and her husband Dennis bought in 1958. The immediate family is grateful to them for the loving care they provided to her over the years. The family is also grateful for the wonderful care provided by the staff of Hospice of Southern Maine.

She was preceded in death in 1981 by her husband Dennis of 42 years, brother Philip, sister Patrice, and son-in-law Judson Himes.
