An Etna man was sentenced Thursday to a year and a day in prison for his role in a conspiracy to grow and distribute marijuana.
James Mansfield, 33, was also sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jon D. Levy in federal court in Bangor to three years of supervised release.
Mansfield pleased guilty in February to conspiracy to manufacture, distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana.
According to court records, between October 2010 and August 2016, Mansfield and others grew marijuana at a large, sophisticated indoor growing facility in Frankfort. In May 2016, the facility was raided and law enforcement agents seized about 400 marijuana plants, 295 marijuana root balls and equipment used to manufacture and process marijuana.
Mansfield and his co-conspirators weren’t registered as medical marijuana caregivers with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and the location of the facility was not reported to DHHS, federal officials said.
