Only in Maine can you shoot a man in the face and shoot at him a total of three times, as Timothy Ortiz did to Jonathan Methot, and get away with murder (“New York man found not guilty of murder in Biddeford,” June 26, Page B1).
The jury deliberated for only 2½ hours and found Ortiz guilty of manslaughter, a reduced charge.
Shame on that jury, and shame on the Maine judicial system.
