FALMOUTH — Shannon Johnson posted the lowest score again Wednesday en route to winning the New England Women’s Amateur at The Woodlands Club.

Johnson, 35, of Norton, Massachusetts, shot a 2-over 74 – the third consecutive round in which she posted the low score – to win the tournament in her first attempt. She was the only golfer to finish below par, shooting a 2-under 214 over 54 holes.

Hannah Ghelfi, who shot a 75 Wednesday, was five strokes back at 3-over. Sophie DiPetrillo finished third at 13-over. Both golfers are from Massachusetts.

The top Maine finisher was Bailey Plourde, 18, of Newcastle, in ninth place. Plourde shot a 5-over 77 – the best round for any Maine golfer this week – to finish at 244.

Erin Holmes of Gray was 22nd at 254, and Elizabeth Lacognata of Scarborough was 24th at 258.
