Why is it that a congressman or congresswoman can vote to send soldiers to war and tell them, the soldiers, that they must put their country first before their personal safety, before their family’s well being, and perhaps even sacrifice his life.
But when you ask that same politician why they won’t put their country before their party and speak truth to power they reply, “Because the party base will vote me out of my job.”
Members of Congress don’t believe they should be expected to sacrifice their jobs to do the right thing for their country.
Why is the soldier’s duty to country so great and the elected representative’s so small?
