BATH — The Bath City Council voted Wednesday to extend its moratorium on marijuana-related businesses for another six months as the city waits for the state to enact rules governing the new industry.

“The whole purpose of the moratorium was so that someone didn’t try to do an end-around and try to open an establishment before we have a chance to set up regulations that are coming down from the state,” said City Manager Peter Owen.

Wednesday marked the second passage of a moratorium. The council voted unanimously in favor of it.

The city first enacted a moratorium in March. The new moratorium will last for 180 days.
