KENNEBUNK — Two free classes for pet enthusiasts will be conducted this weekend at the Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk.

SPECIES SPOTLIGHT: Chinese Water Dragons & Chameleons runs from 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 12 at the AWS Humane Ed classroom at the Boston House (white house on the AWS campus, at the end of Holland Road, Kennebunk.
HerpHaven Reptile Rescue and Sanctuary will be on hand to teach about keeping Chameleons and Chinese Water Dragons as pets. Many people don’t even know lizards like these can be pets so this will be a great hands-on learning experience for kids and adult alike to learn about their care, personalities, habitat and safe handling techniques. Kids will have the opportunity to complete a fun lizard-related project and attendees of all ages will be able to interact with the exotic pets.
CANINE TRAINING WORKSHOP: Therapy Dog 101 runs from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13 at the AWS Training Classroom, 46 Holland Road, Kennebunk.

Presented by Therapy Dog Evaluator and Handler Alexandra Daley-Clark, join AWS for a special Humans-Only Canine Training Workshop to learn about what goes into becoming a therapy dog team. Therapy Dog 101 will cover the basics on behavior traits and skills required, the types of work therapy dogs do and how to look into certification.
