BIDDEFORD — The Maine Repertory Theater presents The American Chamber of Comedy’s second production, “Freezing Our Improv Off.”

Every Saturday night, The Chamber will perform two shows, at 7 and 9 p.m., starting on Saturday, Jan. 12 through Feb. 16, hosted by Maine Rep at thePepperell Mill in Biddeford.

The Chamber’s improvisation professionals will warm your innards with laughter as they escort you on a journey of winter-themed comedy. Scenes are made up right on the spot with help from the audience yelling out suggestions. No two shows are ever alike because the cast lineup is always changing and the audiences are different.

Founded by Steve Burnette and David Hanright, the Maine Repertory Theater is home to the region’s newest production company and performance venue.

Maine Rep is an intimate 60-seat theater located at the Pepperell Mill in the heart of downtown Biddeford, presenting a variety of entertaining, thought-provoking, typically light-hearted productions. This includes improv, sketch comedy, old time radio shows, published works, special events, and the occasional world premiere of an original script.

Not only is Maine Rep a performing arts organization, it is also dedicated to helping nonprofits in the community. The American Chamber of Comedy’s first production of “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Improv” raised 150 pounds of food for the Saco and the Biddeford food pantries in December, selling out their final performance.

For this upcoming production Maine Rep encourages patrons to bring non-perishable food items that they’ll donate again to the Biddeford and Saco food pantries. Bring them when you come to purchase tickets or the night of the show.

Additionally, 2 percent of each ticket sold will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, and another 2 percent  to Volunteers of America.

Tickets are $15 and $18, and can be purchased online at www.MaineRepertoryTheater.com, by calling the box office at 205-6201, or visiting the theater during office hours located at the Pepperell Mill, 40 Main St., Building 13, in Biddeford.
