GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Timothy Ian Murphy, 40, of Gardnerville, Nevada and formerly of Old Orchard Beach, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 4, 2018.

He was born on Easter Sunday, March 26, 1978 and weighed 1 pound, 12 ounces. He was 13 ½ weeks premature. He fought hard to survive and came home 2 ½ months later from the Maine Medical Center at 4.2 pounds.

He was educated at St. James School in Biddeford and also in Old Orchard Beach schools.

Earlier, as a teenager, Tim worked in the family business, Murphy & Sons Texaco Station & Motor Court. He later on went to apprentice for Chef Gillis at Silver Spoons Restaurant. In 1998, he and his friend Dan Littlefield moved to Lake Tahoe and lived on Heavenly Mountain.

Tim was employed by Eagles Nest Restaurant as a sous chef and protégés of Chef Billy Marchetti, his friend, in Lake Tahoe. He later worked for Harrah’s Casino as a Lead Cook where he cooked for several celebrities. He later moved to Gardnerville to work for the Carson Valley Inn at their Convention Center.

According to his bosses he increased the quality of food, and he was described as a culinary perfectionist. His work ethic was created here in Maine and he carried this to the west coast. His boss always mentioned, he wished he had 200 Timmy’s working with him.

Tim was an avid snowboarder and really enjoyed being on Stagecoach Lift at Heavenly Ski Resort. His friends recall many special memories that they shared and will hold on to and cherish forever. He will be sadly missed by many. His other hobby was hand loading and shooting, a passion her shared with his dad.

He was thoughtful and loyal to his friends. They talked about his wit, charm and his electric blue eyes and beautiful smile. He was known to keep everyone in line. Timmy was awesome. He had a deep love for his family and friends.

He is predeceased by his grandparents and his beloved brother, Garon Murphy.

He is survived by his parents, Gordon and Celeste (Garon) Murphy from Old Orchard Beach; his niece Brittany Cacace of South Portland; his godparents Robert and Joyce (Garon) Boucher of North Conway, New Hampshire; his uncles and aunts Walter and Sherry Murphy of Old Orchard Beach, Guy Garon of The Villages, Florida, Gene Murphy of Charlestown, Indiana, Steve Garon of Biddeford, and Kathy Garon of Old Orchard Beach; and several cousins and friends.

Visiting Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, with a Funeral Service at 1 p.m. at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. Burial will be held in the spring. A Celebration of Life will also be held on the 41st Annual Easter Brunch at the Murphy Home in Old Orchard Beach.
