Caroline Smith and her Freeport girls’ basketball teammates excelled again this winter.

After a very competitive winter sports season, Freeport recently honored its top athletes at the high school and middle school levels.

The Falcons girls’ basketball team reached the regional final for the second year in a row and named Rachel Wall the Most Improved Player, gave its Achievement Award to Caroline Smith and its Falcon Pride and Character Award to Abby Brier.

The girls’ junior varsity team named Riley Simon Most Valuable Player, gave its Coach’s Award to Jaclyn Burke and its Falcon Pride and Character Award to Anna Roy.

The girls’ first team’s Falcon Pride and Character Award went to Kiley Mason.

Freeport’s boys’ team also made it to the playoffs this winter. Kaleb Barrett was named Most Improved. Eriksen Shea got the Coach’s Award. Leo Li was given the Falcon Pride and Character Award.

The JV team gave Athletic Excellence Awards to Harrison Bowen and Cam Strong. Liam Holt won the Falcon Pride and Character Award.

The first team’s Athletic Excellence Awards went to Robert Landry and Keigan Shea. Cole Daly won the Falcon Pride and Character Award.

Boys’ hockey, which is a co-op team with South Portland and Waynflete, gave its 7th Player Award to Anthony Panciocco.

Girls’ hockey, which is a co-op with Yarmouth, Margaret Perrotta was named MVP. Paige Rinaldi won the Captains’ Award. Allison Perrotta was named Most Improved. 

The boys’ indoor track team gave its Finish Line Award to Nick Mitch, its Starting Block Award to Boden Abbott and its Falcon Pride and Character Award to Dawson Pillow.

The girls’ squad gave its Finish Line Award to Emma Abbott, its Starting Block Award to Emmie Riendeau and its Falcon Pride and Character Award to Jessie Minieri.

Swimming gave its Falcon Pride and Character Award to Brian Brogan.

The boys’ Alpine ski team gave Athletic Excellence awards to Paul Biberstein and Aaron Rusiecki and its Falcon Pride and Character Award to Parker Landsbergen.

The girls’ squad gave Maisy St. Cyr the Athletic Excellence award and its Falcon Pride and Character Award to Isabella St. Cyr.

Nordic skiing’s boys’ team gave Coach’s Awards to Elias Dorsey and John Giddens. Henry Southall took home the Falcon Pride and Character Award.

The girls’ squad gave Coach’s Awards to Allison Greuel and Lily Horne and the Falcon Pride and Character Award to Kaitlyn Mosier.

Cheering’s Spirit Award went to Eli Maynard, the Coach’s Award to Tabatha Sabans and the Falcon Pride and Character Award to Meaghan Erlebach.

Lily Horne and Jason D’Amico received Western Maine Conference Citizenship Awards.

Middle school honors

Freeport Middle School gave out Athletic Excellence Awards to the following:

Nordic skiing Kate Battarbee, Oliver Beardsley-Stites, Henry Horne and Jillian Wight
7th grade boys’ basketball Max Maneikis, Will Maneikis, Chris Murphy and Connor Slocum
8th grade boys’ basketball Alex Graver and Gavin Miller
‘A’ team boys’ basketball Liam Hall and Husein Hashim
7th grade girls’ basketball Lillian Doten and Julia Whalen
8th grade girls’ basketball Avery Baker-Schlendering and Lila Salter
