SCARBOROUGH — Aiden Glover and Jack McDiarmid scored three goals apiece as the Brunswick High School boys lacrosse team edged past Scarborough, 12-11, on Friday. 

Glover added four assists, along with Nate Girardin. 

The Dragons improved to 5-0 and are set to visit Morse today at 5 p.m. The Red Storm fell to 2-4. 

Tied 6-6 at the half, Brunswick sprinted out to an 8-6 lead in the third, and in the fourth the Dragons extended out to a 11-6 advantage. 

Jared Quintiliani and Andrew Granzier tallied four goals apiece for the Red Storm, who used a four-goal run in the fourth quarter to cut their deficit to 11-10 with three minutes remaining.

Aidan Joyce added five assists for Scarborough.

Connor Pendergast turned away 21 shots in the Brunswick cage. 

Baseball

FREEPORT — Dawson Gundlah homered, doubled and made several quality plays in the field to power York to an 8-4 Western Maine Conference win over Freeport on Saturday. 

Tied 1-1, the Wildcats (5-1) tallied three runs for a 4-1 lead. Shane Pidgeon’s RBI double was followed by a two-run homer by Gundlah. 

Anthony Panciocco was 3-for-4 for Freeport (3-2), which hosts Cape Elizabeth in a pair of five-inning games today at 3:30 p.m. Toby Holt also doubled, and Heath Cockburn, Blaine Cockburn and Liam Holt combined on the mound for eight strikeouts in the setback. 

Mt. Ararat 14, Bangor 6

At Bangor on Thursday, the Eagles exploded for seven runs in the sixth inning for a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over the Rams. 

Leading 7-5 after five, Mt. Ararat used six hits and two walks to extend its lead. 

Cody Holman and Trey Booty had three hits each in the win, while Austin Damon, Devin Tobin, Brady Mitchell-Damms and Kyle Secone had two hits apiece as the Eagles pounded out 16 hits. 

Damon, Hunter Lohr and Booty combined on the mound for five hits, three strikeouts and eight walks.

Four pitchers took the mound for Bangor (2-5), while Colton Trisch and Keegan Cyr had two hits apiece. 

The Eagles host Morse at Bowdoin College today at 4 p.m.

Softball

FREEPORT — Abby Orso spun a one-hitter as York tallied a 12-0 five-inning WMC win over Freeport on Saturday. 

The Falcons saw their three-game winning streak come to an end, falling to 3-2 on the season. York improved to 5-1. 

Orso struck out 10 and permitted a second-inning double to Freeport’s Jae Burke. 

The Falcons host Cape Elizabeth today in a pair of five-inning games, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

FREEPORT — Molly Whelan tallied eight points as Freeport held on for a 13-12 victory over Bonny Eagle on Saturday. 

Whelan had five goals and three assists, while teammate Allison Greuel finished with a hat trick and an assist. Savannah Tracy picked up six draw controls and three goals, while Margaret Perrotta tallied two goals, one assist and seven draw controls. Maggie Ryan caused three turnovers and had seven ground balls to lead the Falcon defense. 

In net, Freeport’s Piper Sherbert had 10 saves. 

The Falcons (3-1) visit Boothbay on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
