BRUNSWICK– A roughly 3.5 mile stretch of Old Bath Road will be closed for one week starting Sept. 5 as contractors work to replace a large culvert, town officials said Tuesday.

The road will be closed from Bath Road to New Meadows Road, as the work area east of Tufton Street will not be passable. A detour will be posted and the road will be open to local traffic, according to Greg Savona, controller of Pratt and Sons General Contractors. School buses will have to go into Bath and loop around to drop off some students, he said.

Michelle Caron, director of transportation for the Brunswick School Department said Tuesday that she was aware of the closure and they were working to figure out the route and exactly how many students would be impacted.  The road is expected to reopen Sept. 12.
