The Jan. 28 edition of the Northern Forecaster had opinions by Heather Martin (“At our very best, we are a nation of poets”) and John Balentine (“What’s a conservative to do?”) that couldn’t have been more opposite in outlooks for our country. We applaud your attempt to have a balance of Democratic and Republican, conservative and liberal expression of views for your readers to process. But we take issue with the inclusion of an opinion writer who is perpetuating a falsehood that has proven to be fabricated and decisive.

Mr. Balentine must be informed that the United States election that took place in 2020 was legitimate and fairly won by Joseph R. Biden with over 80 million voters casting their ballots in his favor. Claims of “Georgia’s failed runoffs and still unresolved questions surrounding 2020’s election results …” are false and inflammatory.

Mr. Balentine has every right to create a list of actions for like-minded readers, many of which can be applied to Democrats or Independents as well, but he does not serve his community well when he perpetuates proven falsehoods.
