GORHAM – Maurice J. “Hunk” Erskine Jr., 91, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021. He was born in South Portland on May 6, 1929, the son of Maurice Sr. and Lena (Johnson) Erskine.

Maurice graduated from South Portland High School and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. On May 10, 1957 he married Margaret I. Groves of Yarmouth. He retired as a steam engineer after 30 years at the old Dana Warp Mill in Westbrook. Hunk was active in the Boy Scouts of America, volunteered for many years with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and was a member of the Lake Region Wanderers, and Good Sam RV Club.

In addition to his wife of 43 years; Maurice was predeceased by his brothers, George and Arvin “Ge” Erskine; and a long-time friend, Maxine Betty Norton.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy E. Clemenz, son, Andrew Erskine and his girlfriend, Sharon Cabral; sister, June Wiggins, brother, Donald E. Erskine and his wife, Marie; granddaughter, Jennifer Clemenz; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Mary Norton Erskine.

A funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 6 at the Windham Chapel of Dolby, Blais and Segee, 434 River Rd.
