Nancy (Nielson) Conroy

BLUE BELL, Pa. – Nancy (Nielsen) Conroy passed peacefully on Feb. 26, 2021 at the age of 87. Born in Portland, Nancy was the daughter of Laura E. (Belcher) Nielsen and Arthur H. Nielsen. At the time of her passing, she resided at Sunrise Senior Living in Blue Bell, Pa.

Nancy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 21 years, James F. Conroy. Nancy was the cherished stepmother of Mary Pat Conroy; and beloved grandmother of Christopher Higgins and Jameson Finch; as well as two great-granddaughters, Addison and Hartleigh. Nancy is also survived by her sister, Katherine Clark; and many nieces and nephews. Nancy is predeceased by four brothers.

Nancy grew up in South Portland, Maine – a state she always had a great love for and visited often. She attended South Portland High School, drove in the Powder Puff Derby at Beech Ridge Speedway and ate as much lobster as possible! After graduating from high school, Nancy relocated to Philadelphia to attend nursing school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy (PCOM). She successfully graduated and spent 40-plus years as an emergency room nurse. She continued to volunteer in the emergency room for several years after her retirement. She was dedicated to her career and was well-loved by colleagues and patients alike.

Nancy enjoyed years of traveling with her husband to visit friends and family. She also loved spending time at their lake house in Greenwood. She never forgot a birthday or celebration or holiday and always sent a note to honor such occasions. Her kindness and concern was a blessing to her many friends.

Nancy would want her passing to bring folks together; however, she would also put everyone’s health first. Therefore, we will not be having an in-person service. The family will be holding a life celebration at a later date and we would greatly appreciate it if everyone would leave a memory for us to share at that time (www.lifecelebration.com).

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. James M. Clarke, DO for his support and care through the years. We would also like to thank all the staff at Sunrise of Blue Bell and Kindred Hospice for the excellent care they gave to Nancy and the support they provided to our family. We can only say thank you!
