SANFORD — York County Community Action Corporation has been named one of 32 recipients of the 15th Annual Housing for Everyone grant program from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank. According to a news release from the agency, it was awarded $125,000.

“York County Community Action Corporation has developed an initiative to help COVID-19 -impacted families and individuals avoid eviction and remain in safe, affordable housing,” said Jennifer Gabriel, senior Regional Giving manager at TD Bank. “Being awarded the 15th Annual Housing for Everyone grant is an acknowledgement of York County Community Action’s dedication to ensuring an inclusive recovery from the pandemic.”

YCCAC’s HOME SAFE will provide emergency financial assistance to help with back-rent, deposits and other housing-related expenses for people impacted or displaced by COVID. As well, it incorporates and enhances elements from several of the agency’s ongoing economic opportunity programs, and adds new educational programs to build the knowledge and capacity of low-income individuals and families as viable and responsible tenants.

“We are excited to expand our housing and outreach work to meet the need for affordable, safe and accessible housing for York County residents,” said Mesha Quinn, director of YCCAC’s Economic Opportunity Department. “This grant will allow us to incorporate innovative solutions as we believe individuals and families will experience more long-lasting outcomes as a result of having housing and supportive services.”
