Westbrook city officials have postponed a presentation of the proposed 2021-22 operating budget that had been scheduled for a City Council meeting on Wednesday.

Westbrook City Clerk and Assistant City Administrator Angela Holmes said the presentation had to be delayed until April 21 because of unforeseen circumstances. Holmes did not elaborate.

As a result of the postponement, Holmes said, the budget review and adoption schedule had to be changed. After Mayor Michael Foley delivers the budget to the City Council on April 21, the City Council and Finance Committee will hold a special budget workshop session and public hearing on April 26. That meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The Finance Committee will hold additional budget hearings on Monday, May 3.

Once those hearings have concluded, the budget will go back to the City Council on May 10 and May 17 for final adoption.
