NEW YORK — Alexandar Georgiev stopped 26 shots, Pavel Buchnevich and rookie Alexis Lafreniere each had a goal and an assist, and the New York Rangers beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 Friday night for their fifth win in seven games.

Chris Kreider and Filip Chytil also scored and Artemi Panarin had two assists to help the Rangers bounce back one night after a 3-2 loss to the Flyers. New York pulled back six points behind Boston for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East Division. The Rangers have eight games remaining while the Bruins have 10.

Oskar Lindblom scored for Philadelphia and third-string goalie Alex Lyon finished with 20 saves.

PREDATORS 3, BLACKHAWKS 1: Juuse Saros made 29 saves, Luke Kunin scored for the third straight game and Nashville won at Chicago.

NOTES

FLAMES: Calgary had one player test positive for COVID-19 and called off its morning skate.

The club said in a statement the player was in isolation and other players and staff members had tested negative for the coronavirus.

Montreal was prepared to play at Calgary on Friday night despite the positive test, and the Canadiens are familiar with schedule disruptions caused by the pandemic. Four of their games in March were rescheduled because one team member tested positive for a variant and another player was a close contact.

Calgary’s situation comes a few days after the Vancouver Canucks resumed play after an outbreak and long layoff. Twenty-one Vancouver players and four members of the coaching staff were affected.

COVID-19 has forced the rescheduling of 52 NHL games so far this season.

DUCKS: Forward Jakob Silfverberg will be sidelined for four to six months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum and a bone problem in his right hip.

Silfverberg had the surgery Thursday at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, the Ducks announced.

Silfverberg had career lows of eight goals and eight assists in 47 games for the Ducks this season, along with a career-worst minus-17 rating. The Swedish forward has been with Anaheim for eight seasons, recording 136 goals and 152 assists.

RED WINGS: Captain Dylan Larkin will be out for the rest of the season with an upper-body injury.

Like many of his teammates, Larkin struggled this season. The 24-year-old center had nine goals and 14 assists in 44 games. He had 53 points in 71 games last year in another lackluster season.

Larkin signed a $30.5 million, five-year deal in 2018 after leading the team with career highs in assists (47) and points (63) in his third season. He provided a return on the investment in the first seasons of his new contract, scoring a career-high 32 goals and reaching a career-high 73 points two years ago.
