WINDHAM – Betty L. Thomes, 89, died peacefully May 3, 2021 at the Gorham House care facility. She was born Sept. 23, 1931 in Windham, on the River Road. Betty is the daughter of Clair and Emma Lowell.

Betty is a graduate of Windham High School and Gorham Teachers College.

She married Herbert W. Thomes, Warren, in 1950. Betty and Warren had many wonderful years on Little Sebago Lake, boating, relaxing, waterskiing, watching kids play on the beach, cruising on the pontoon boat and entertaining. She taught school for 25 years, beginning in Portland and then Windham. Betty was an active member in the community, garden club, bridge and with her church Windham Hill UCC.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded by her husband, Herbert Warren Thomes.

Surviving are her son, Theodore Thomes, wife Renee of St.Croix, USVI, daughter, Joanne Gregory and fiancé Daniel Bicknell of Windham; grandchildren Crystal Thomes and partner Valerie Taylor of Maryland, Claire Gregory and Anthony Barletta of Portland.

Visiting hours will be held, Monday May 10 at the Windham Chapel of Dolby, Blais and Segee, 434 River Rd., Windham from 10 to 12 p.m. A small family service to follow at 12 p.m.
