Barbara Raths

Camden National Bank has promoted Barbara Raths to senior vice president, director of treasury management and government banking. Raths is an expert in treasury operations, debt and cash management, corporate finance, public finance and international payment risk management with over 17 years of experience. She was the senior vice president, senior treasury management sales adviser and international treasury specialist for two years prior to her promotion, and in her new role will lead corporate, nonprofit and government treasury management business development efforts and deliver treasury management solutions to clients. Raths lives in Cape Elizabeth with her husband and their three children.

Alanna Stevenson

Alanna Stevenson has been named the new principal of Saint Dominic Academy for both the Auburn and Lewiston campuses. The announcement is part of a new leadership structure to ensure that the most efficient organizational model is in place and that all opportunities to build proactively for the academy’s future will be fully explored. Stevenson has been the principal of St. Dom’s Lewiston campus for two years after joining the faculty in 2016 as an English teacher. In addition to her experience in education, Stevenson served in the Maine governor’s office as the director of boards and commissions and as legislative assistant to then-Congressman John Baldacci.

NEW HIRES

Deanna Lavoie

Fontaine Family Real Estate has announced the addition of two new employees, Deanna Lavoie and Abby Davis, to the team at its Auburn location.

A native of Buckfield, Lavoie graduated from Buckfield Junior-Senior High School and then continued her education at Worcester State University, graduating with a double major in biology and chemistry. She later obtained her sales agent license, and is now a member of the National Association of Realtors. When not at work, Lavoie spends most of her weekends hiking, kayaking or going camping at campgrounds across the state or at her family camp on Willson Pond in Turner.

Abby Davis

Davis grew up primarily in Louisville, Kentucky, and attended Lawton High School in Lawton, Oklahoma. She began her college education at Hesser College in New Hampshire, graduating with an associate’s degree in paralegal studies before continuing her education at the University of Southern Maine and graduating with a bachelor’s degree in political science. In her free time, she enjoys working out, watching movies with her children and trying new recipes. Davis currently resides in Auburn and is the proud mother of two boys and a daughter.

Jessica Niles-McDonough and Brian Shedlarski

Jessica Niles-McDonough and Brian Shedlarski (Niles, Shedlarski & Co.) have joined Locations Real Estate Group. Since they became a team in 2014, Niles-McDonough and Shedlarski have excelled at communicating, organizing and representing their clients’ individual needs. When not working, they enjoy spending time with their families in the beautiful outdoors of Maine. Niles-McDonough lives in Freeport, and Shedlarski resides in New Gloucester.

Sarah Doucette

Sarah Doucette has joined Northwestern Mutual as a financial representative. Doucette will join a team of specialists offering an array of products. In offering comprehensive financial planning, she will provide expert guidance and innovative solutions for a variety of financial needs and goals. A native of Topsham, she was a business support analyst at Milton CAT in Scarborough prior to joining Northwestern Mutual. Doucette graduated from Florida Southern College in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in international business and later obtained her Life, Accident, and Health Insurance Producer license.

HONORS & AWARDS

Maine Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry commissioner Amanda Beal presented Maine Forest Service ranger specialist Kent Nelson with the Silver Smokey Bear Award, the highest national honor recognizing outstanding work and significant program impact in wildfire prevention, making Nelson one of two people to earn this national recognition in 2021. Nelson has worked in the Maine Forest Service for two decades, serving as Maine’s wildfire prevention specialist, a role in which he administers Maine’s wildfire prevention and FireWise programs and raises public awareness on how to prevent wildfires.

Financial adviser Tom Carr of the financial services firm Edward Jones in Brunswick has been authorized by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards to use the CFP certification mark. He successfully completed the CFP board’s initial certification requirements, which include completion of financial planning coursework and passing a comprehensive examination. Carr has been a financial adviser with Edward Jones for nine years and in Brunswick for seven years.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

The Maine Health Access Foundation welcomes three new members to its statewide board of trustees:

Dr. Samuela Manages is a family medicine physician at Pines Health Services, a federally qualified health center in Van Buren, where she has practiced since 2008. She sits on the board of the Maine Medical Association, and is a member of the Cary Medical Center Medical Executive Committee as well as the Pines Health Services Quality Improvement Committee. Manages is active with the Rural Resiliency Community Alliance as well as medical director for Van Buren Ambulance Services.

Abdulkerim Said is the founder and executive director of New Mainers Public Health Initiative, a nonprofit, community-based organization. He is extremely passionate about improving the disparities of healthcare and fighting to reduce barriers between providers and the community. Said is a member of the Maine Statewide Public Health Council Community Adviser Group and a board member for one of the largest CAP agencies in Maine.

Ian Yaffe recently joined the DHHS commissioner’s office as chief operating officer for COVID-19 to build systems and tools to support communities and organizations. Yaffe is on leave through 2021 from his position as executive director of Mano en Mano, which he joined in 2010 after working in several seasonal jobs in Massachusetts and Colorado. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 2009 with a degree in Latin American studies and education and spent a semester at the Universidad de La Habana in Cuba in 2008.
