Marpheen Chann represents the best of Portland. Having arrived in Maine as a child of refugees from war-torn Cambodia, Marpheen epitomizes the American Dream and the outsized impact one individual can have on our community.

As a grandson of Holocaust survivors, I’m particularly moved by Chann’s work at the Holocaust and Human Rights Center. Chann’s commitment to human rights advocacy not only informs his work professionally but also contextualizes his aspirations as a public servant.

Chann isn’t interested in mere words, but in solutions. Personally, professionally and now politically, he leads by example and is unafraid to roll up his sleeves to do the hard work needed to get the job done.

I have no doubt that Marpheen Chann will positively impact our community and work to ensure a better future for Portland. For these reasons, I hope you join me in voting for Marpheen Chann for an at-large position on the Charter Commission.
